Expectations for Coaches
- Good Communication - Have regular team meetings with parents to let them know of what's going on with the team. A lot of parents will work with their children at home if the coach will let them know what to practice. Keeping parents informed will go a long way to having team unity.
- You're a Role Model - All players look up to a coach. Always conduct yourself in a professional way. It's hard to ask the players to conduct themselves responsibly if the coaches are acting unprofessional. Promote good sportsmanship and respect for others.
- Game Officials - Would a coach allow a player to constantly argue with the officials or throw things during the game? No, so as a role model should the coach perform these activities? Game officials are like every other profession - there's some who are really good and some not so good but as a whole they're not purposely making bad calls against a team.
- Treat Players with Respect - The fastest way to have parent problems ... mistreat their child.
- Have Fun!!
- Praise the Players - Everyone loves to be praised - try to praise the children for their play. Praising the players can make all the difference in the world.
- Teach the game – Spend time working on the fundamentals of the game.
- Be on Time - Show up for practices and games at a reasonable time.
